In France, MAP can be practised only if the couple is heterosexual, in reproductive age and diagnosed as infertile or at risk of transmitting a serious disease to the child. Contrary to the United-Kingdom, Belgium, The Netherands, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Spain; which propose MAP without medical reason to allow to single women or homosexuals couples to have child.

In most countries, only heterosexual but not necessarily married couples can recourse to MAP. It is the case of Egypt, Portugal, France, German ...

Single women or lesbian couples represent the second most frequent status for which MAP is permitted. As for example in Canada, in the United States of America, in Spain, in the United-Kingdom...

 


In France, beyond 43 years old, the Social Security does not pay off the recourse to MAP. In Korea, the age limit is 44 years old and in Czech Republic, 39 years. In Spain, in the Netherlands ans in the USA, there is no age limit.


The cost of an IVF without embryos or gametes freezing and ovarian stimulation, is as well very variable according to countries. Indeed, in the United States, one IVF costs €10 000 (that's to say 11 042 dollars). This price is quite high compared to the other countries. In the United-Kingdom, an IVF costs approximately €5 000  (or 3 902 pounds) and in Japan, in France and in Belgium, the cost varies between €2 000 and €3 000 ( or between 1560 and 2341 pounds).
